A Techno Literate Leader & Coach

Being a hands-on leader and coach, Tony Dovale has always been directly involved in the general day-to-day running of all of his companies, from reception and accounts, to workshops and marketing.

His IT expertise encompasses IT/computers and advanced communications technologies including LAN, WAN and Web technologies. Tony’s IT foundation comes from his Computer Programming training with Van Zyl and Pritchard in Cobol and then working with NEG – National Employers General Insurance in Computer systems Analysis and design, with Cobol and RPG2.

Tony joined a local IT company, Olivetti, and then later Nikuv Computers, where he sold Olivetti and DEC/Vax equipment. When the IBM PC and the Olivetti M20 and M24 were initially launched in South Africa, he joined Microness, a local computer retailer, as a founding partner.

Tony launched the first Microness PC Franchise in Rissik Street, Johannesburg. From there Tony started Network Interface Consultants (NIC), an IBM System Center dealership, with a partner, which enabled him to go through an extensive range of IBM’s in-depth technical systems training, as well as their world-class sales training system.

As an IBM System Center dealership in South Africa, NIC, installed local and wide area systems (Novell, OS/2, Windows). Some of their esteemed clients were De Beers/Anglo, Liberty Life, Investec Bank, Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, Adcock Ingram, Boart, Mackintosh Latilla, Carrier & Lang (MLCL) and Radio 702.

During this time Tony set up the NIC training/coaching division using “Accelerated Learning” and Coaching techniques (the use of NLP, Music, special lighting, pictures, visualisation, Appreciative Enquiry/Coaching and the Modular CALM learning system), to provide highly effective technical and sales training.

This proved to be extremely successful and very rewarding process.
